We had a good weekend racing the very best in Europe down at Cheddar this weekend. Matty Masterson survived the 1/4s and was through to the semis on Sunday alongside 14 year olds - a bit of an achievement and a real experience for him. The winner is 14 and is World No. 6 and is about 6 foot tall! . Matty came 5th so was out after the semi but with Switzerland to follow and his confidence growing since his crash at Coppull he'll be aiming for that final in Switzerland.
Isabelle Ferrada did a spectacular saturday coming in 2nd place in her first moto then missed a moto out, placing her 8th overall. She picked up a plaque for 8th but we all know she should have been getting a trophy. On Sunday she did much better, remembered to race (!) and got a 3rd place trophy in gold. Well done Isabel!
Russ was winning motos in 19+ men - great to watch but he had an unlucky final on Sunday where he was pushed off the last berm into the grass and couldn't get back in. He also had a good weekend on Cruiser but couldn't quite get a lead out the gate, placing him 2nd. I'm sure he'll try again in Switzerland to get that No. 1.
Hilly 2nd on cruiser on Sunday - the podium was all british. Well done lads. And Flemdog on flats too.
Max Salthouse had a difficult set of motos on Sunday with three very fast world-class Belgium riders and a very fast Latvian in his class so without moto rotation he didn't stand much of a chance but what an experience for him. On Saturday he had a slightly (!) easier group and a blinding first moto and some great gates. Max loved every minute of it, too which was great.
James Turvey was also debuting a Euro event same as Max and was given a real taster to world Class BMX racing. Despite being very new to this level of racing, James hung in there and got some good finishes, not in last place either so well done James.
